Turn pillowcases into curtains – it’s easy and inexpensive I recently gave my laundry room a makeover. When the time came to select curtains for my laundry room, I had a tough time finding something that I liked. Everything was either too expensive or just not my style. Before leaving the store empty-handed, I deci
ded to browse the bed-linens aisle. There, I found pillow cases in a simple pattern that I loved. I decided to use the pillowcases for curtains in the laundry room. The pat…

How are you today? The sun decided to come out so I am trying to soak up as much of it as possible! I am still carrying things from the cottage kitchen to the new kitchen at the Renovation Ranch… So it was the perfect day for it! It’s basically moving day but with a shorter distance to tote! I wanted to share the new café curtains I made for the window over the sink. They are made from the gauziest linen I could find in a clotted cream color. I found the linen here, online a few weeks ago and was anxious to get them made…last week I had the chance while the plumbers were here. Gray lines Linen is a New York Company that has the most amazing linens and at fabulous prices! I have been using them for years at clients homes. For the kitchen window project, I needed to keep things light and airy because this window faces north… Making the kitchen feel a little dark. I knew I wanted something classic and timeless and not too fussy. So, I decided to use a French pleat style for the café curtain and a relaxed, fixed roman at the top. After washing my new linen in very hot water and drying them in the dryer, I got to work. This was the first time I have made a fixed roman without using a interlining and back lining and I am still not sure if they will hang right. A fixed roman shade is basically a shade that does not adjust up and down. I like to use them when I don’t want to lower them in the evening and… It saves time and money when you are having them made by someone. I used a simple nickel rod with clip hooks on the café curtains. Another first for me, I used the clips style rings and I like how they look in this installation. In the Spring, my kitchen window looks over a very old lilac bush and I can hardly wait for May when it is in full bloom! So, this is where we are on the kitchen project. We are thrilled with how it is coming along! I need to get back to toting groceries and dishes from one house to the other but I will show you our new pantry soon! Here’s a sneak peak! I’m still working on my chalk board! Thanks for stopping by… Have a wonderful rest of the day!

I don’t profess to know a lot about interior design, but I do know that curtains can make a room feel luxe, polished, and complete. One day I was on Haute Look, and I saw some beautiful white blackout curtains with a black border on the sides. On Haute Look they were about $40 a … Read More about How to Use Curtain Clips to Hang Curtains
